Elevate Your Wardrobe: Transform Your Sweater with Embroidery and Bishop Sleeves

Revelstoke Refashion: The Ultimate Cozy Sweatshirt Transformation

Introduction: Embrace Comfort with Style

The Revelstoke Sweatshirt is a wardrobe essential that combines unmatched comfort with chic style. Whether heading to the gym, lounging at home, or brunching with friends, this stylishly comfortable sweatshirt is versatile and reliable. But, why stop at its basic form? A little refashioning can elevate its look and amplify your wardrobe’s charm, making it perfect for autumn walks and cosy moments.

Sleeves That Make a Statement

Revelstoke is well-known for its eye-catching bell sleeves, which add a dramatic flair to its cosy design. By transforming these into bishop sleeves, you can further enhance their allure. This Revamp not only looks stylish but also offers an excellent opportunity to showcase your sewing skills.

Adding Autumnal Embroidery Flair

A cosy sweatshirt isn’t complete without a touch of autumnal embroidery. Using the "Autumn Leaves Latte Please" design from our Fall Embroidery Design Collection, you can infuse your garment with seasonal charm. This design screams “pumpkin spice and everything nice,” making your sweatshirt a fall favourite.

Supplies You'll Need

To achieve your perfect Revelstoke Refashion, gather these essential supplies:
  • Knit fabric such as stretch fleece, French terry, or velour
  • Ballpoint needle
  • Serger (optional)
  • Used or thrifted sweatshirt or sweatshirt pattern like the Revelstoke Sweatshirt
  • Embroidery machine
  • Embroidery thread
  • Autumn Leaves Latte Please Embroidery Design pattern

Transforming the Sleeves: A Step-by-Step Guide

1. Since my sweatshirt was already sewn up following the Revelstoke Instructions, I simply cut off the bottom hem of each sleeve. If you are making this from scratch, skip the hemming step. 2. Set your sewing machine to the longest stitch length and sew two rows of basting stitches around the bottom of the sleeve. Pulling the bobbin threads, gather the sleeve ends as much as you can. 3. Cut out a piece of knit fabric 11″ X 8″ wide with the greatest stretch on the cross grain. 4. Fold in half lengthwise with right sides together and serge or sew with a zigzag stitch. 5. Next, fold the tube in half with wrong sides facing and lining up raw edges and seam. 6. Place on the end of your gathered sleeve matching seams and raw edges. Pin and baste in place. 7. Serge or zigzag stitch around the wrist to attach the new cuff. Repeat for the other sleeve.

Embroidering Your Design: A Detailed Tutorial

1. Download the embroidery design and load it onto your machine. 2. Hoop stabiliser and sweatshirt. 3. Consider using hoop templates for your machine to get accurate placement of the designs on your sweatshirt. 4. Embroider design, changing thread colours as needed. 5. Remove the hoop from the machine and the sweatshirt from the hoop. Wash or cut away the stabiliser.
